The word charism simply means gift.

When we talk about charism within the LCM tradition, we are talking about the gift given to Mary Potter and through her to us.

It is the gift of knowing a specific way of how to act and how to be in the world.

It also centers around Mary, the mother of Jesus who heard him address her, from the cross “Woman, behold your son”.

For Mary Potter and for us, this mandate is to be for others as Mary was to Jesus at the foot of the Cross.

This emphasis on Mary is the reason we are called a Marian congregation.
